How long does solar panel installation take?
The physical installation of a home solar system takes one to two days, with a battery adding a few hours. From accepting a quote to a working system is usually two to eight weeks, allowing time for the roof survey, scheduling, scaffolding and your network operator notification.
The timeline from quote to power-on
| Stage | Time |
|---|---|
| Roof survey after quote | Within 1 to 2 weeks |
| Scheduling and scaffolding | 1 to 4 weeks |
| Installation on site | 1 to 2 days |
| DNO notification | Submitted by installer (G98 same-day) |
What can add time
Larger systems needing G99 pre-approval from the network operator, listed buildings, complex roofs or busy installer schedules can extend the timeline. Most standard domestic installs are quick once the survey is done.
