Do you need a smart meter for solar panels?
You do not need a smart meter to generate and use solar electricity, but you do need one to be paid for the energy you export under the Smart Export Guarantee. A smart meter measures your export accurately so your SEG supplier can pay you, so it is worth arranging one if you do not already have it.
